Gerry Martiniuk was first elected Member of Provincial Parliament for Cambridge in June 1995, and re-elected in June 1999, October 2003 and for a fourth term in October 2007.
Mr. Martiniuk was formerly a municipal councillor, a school trustee of the Waterloo County Board of Education, and alderman for the town of Preston. He also served as Chairman of the Waterloo Regional Police Commission.
Mr. Martiniuk has been involved with many worthwhile local organizations, notably the St. Johns Ambulance, Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club, United Way of Cambridge and was the President of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.
He is the former Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Administration of Justice, and was appointed by Premier Mike Harris in 1997 as Parliamentary Assistant to the Attorney General and Co-Chair of the Ontario Crime Control Commission. He served in those roles from 1997 to 2000.
Mr. Martiniuk works very hard for Cambridge and North Dumfries residents, recruiting new family physicians, the new hospital expansion and solving the traffic problem.
Mr. Martiniuk is a widower with four children: Ivan, Andrew, Kirsten and Seth.
