MPP Gerry Martiniuk hosted his annual Seniors’ Education Day on May 29, 2009 at the Cambridge Newfoundland Club. Adam Timoon, guitarist and comedian, entertained an estimated 250 participants. The event also featured guest speakers and non-profit groups that provide services to seniors.
Gerry addresses the estimated 2,000 people who demanded fair funding for hospitals during a protest April 29, 2009 at Queen’s Park.
Gerry hosted his third annual Earth Day tree planting on April 24 at Ecole St.-Noel-Chabanel. Accompanying Gerry and the students at the event was Mapleton, the official ‘Cambridge Celebrates Canada Day’ mascot. The tree, a sugar maple, was donated by the Cambridge Garden Centre and Landscaping.
Hundreds of people attended a rally March 22 at the Cambridge Newfoundland Club to demand fair funding for Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
Brooke and Jade Bordman, six-year-old twins from Cambridge who suffer from diabetes, joined MPP Gerry Martiniuk at Queen’s Park on Dec. 3, 2008 for a press conference to discuss a private member’s bill that would offer assistance to diabetic children during the school day.
